Nicotobacco Factory receives GMP Certification for nicotine pouch production

GMP Nicotobacco

Why we chose to build our nicotine pouch manufacturing environment around Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and what we learned after putting the system into practice

By the time a finished nicotine pouch reaches its final quality check, dozens of decisions have already influenced the result: the raw materials that entered production, the conditions in which they were handled, the cleanliness of equipment and production areas, and the people responsible for every step along the way. Problems can happen in manufacturing. What matters is how quickly you can understand why they happened and what you do to prevent them from happening again.

So we asked ourselves a simple question: how we control quality before there is a finished product? For Nicotobacco Factory, GMP became part of the answer.

A standard we chose to follow

We don’t follow GMP because we have to. We chose to build our manufacturing environment around these principles.

Implementing GMP was a challenge we deliberately took on while looking for an effective system to control the manufacturing of nicotine pouches. It meant looking at production as a connected system rather than a series of individual operations and controlling the conditions behind the product, not only the product itself.

On September 29, 2025, the GMP system of Nicotobacco Factory was certified by LL-C Certification for the Production of non-tobacco nicotine products.

That is what GMP means to us in practice

Production areas were separated. Incoming raw materials came under defined controls. Cleaning and disinfection procedures were documented. Environmental monitoring and pest control became part of the system. Responsibilities were clearly assigned, personnel training was introduced, and processes for non-conforming products were established

The most useful evidence that the system works didn’t come from the certificate. It came later, in everyday manufacturing. Almost a year after implementing the system, we can see its value in practice.

If a customer raises a complaint, we don’t have to start with assumptions. Traceability allows our team to work backwards – through the batch, production records and individual manufacturing processes and, when necessary, further into the supply chain together with our raw-material suppliers. We can identify where something happened, investigate why it happened and take corrective action.

A system that keeps improving

We continue to review and improve the processes behind it. When we later implemented ISO 9001:2015, we used that opportunity to look at our GMP system once again strengthening existing processes, clarifying controls and identifying further opportunities for improvement. Because manufacturing changes. Technology changes. Production grows.
